Meet the Owners
Ryan Bailey
Ryan Bailey grew up farming with his Mom, Uncle and several cousins on the family dairy farm. Now he lives in the house he grew up in with his own wife, Andrea and their son, Waylon.
He started raising beef cattle there in 2016. Since then the farm has grown and changed significantly. Especially with the addition of Ryan Hanson who purchased his first cows in 2018 and joined the operation officially in 2023, forming Cedar Hill Farms LLC.
Ryan has enjoyed learning about the differences between raising dairy cattle and beef cattle. Since the formation of the LLC he has taken on an operations role and is responsible for much of the day to day tasks. However, he particularly enjoys the relationship he builds with his customers.
Ryan Hanson
Ryan Hanson grew up in River Falls where he and Ryan Bailey have been friends since middle school. Over the years Ryan Bailey spent quite some time trying to convince Ryan Hanson to buy beef cows with him and join him in the farming operation.
After much thought and continuous pressure Ryan Hanson bought his first beef cows in 2018. What started out as merely a hobby and a way to have locally sourced meat, had turned into a budding business with friends and family wanting to purchase beef.
Both Ryans realized that demand for their beef was growing, and they needed to get serious with how far they wanted to take this “hobby”. Ryan Hanson is responsible for business management and supply chain processes. While the aspect of the farm he enjoys most is the genetic breeding program. Cedar Hill Farms uses a natural breeding program that allows him to find the best bulls to use with our cows.
His main breeding goals are to use bulls with mild temperament, good calving ease and also good marbling and carcass grade. Providing a benefit to not just the farm and its customers but the cattle born and raised on the farm as well.
